today I had my last class at this college... forever!!! it was almost sad. I can't believe I stopped and almost regretted my leaving.
I'm moving on to towson next.
today in computer graphics we had our indesign project due, and I picked art nouveau for my style. of course, I waited until the last minute to finish it, didn't print it out, and am sure to get a C as the highest grade for it. the best part though, was when they were looking at the stuff I drew for it, and they were like "um... it doesn't really look like art nouveau." " I agree. it kinda looks like that Tim Burton movie to me." "Oh, I know what you mean, like demented art nouveau?"
meanwhile, I'm sitting there... wondering why I was still in the room... and why I still insist on literally waiting until the last minute...
that would be the third one I've had, though the first two all were because of bad weather... this time wasn't my fault though, thank goodness.
so I was sitting at a red light, waiting my turn to go into the rugged warehouse parking lot, when suddenly WHAM! I looked behind me and there were two girls in the front seat, screaming each others' heads off. one of them stomped out of the car (in the middle of traffic?) and the other followed me into the parking lot. the whole time I was thnking "Oh God, please not another one, please not another accident..." A policeman had been nearby and heard the crash (which I think means it had more force than we thought) so he came to check it out, but when we all got out of our cars, the worst thing that had happened was where the other girl bent her front liscense plate on the back of my car. there might have been a scratch or two on mine, but it wasn't anything I seriously minded (c'mon, it's a '92. who cares.) I don't know how we managed to come away with no damage, but I got her information anyway, just in case.
apparently they were fighting and the sister slapped the other... while the girl was driving. hmm.
Moral of the story? siblings make terrible backseat drivers. oh yeah, and God is awesome.
so Miss Shelly (the homeschool class teacher at karate) was asked to do a small "lesson" for a kid's eighth birthday party. apparently he was having a ninja turtle theme, and they wanted her to teach them some "ninja moves". Unfortunately, Miss Shelly couldn't do it, as there was a tournament today and she was there all afternoon, so she asked me to do it instead.
it was amazing.
all we did was a little loosening up, a few jumping jacks, then a couple of punches and two basic kicks, but they loved it. even some of the parents joined in...
the best part of today, however, was when they put one of the martial artists in the Chick-Fil-A cow costume (CFA helped to sponsor the tournament) and pitted it against another fighter. they definitely were sparring against each other in the center ring. It didn't take long before the cow was down, however.
Last week I did
something stupid.I know, that’s not
really I great way to start out a blog, everybody does something like that(I guess that was an attempt at a joke?)Anyway, so last week I was at church, and two
of my friends and I got this great idea;
Hey, the ice is still covering the ground + we’ve
been cooped up all this week with school and couldn’t play in the “snow”+ Body
shields are made of nylon= stupid moment.
Can you see how
this is going?
So anyway, we were
sledding down the steepest hill at the church, which just so happened to be
facing the brick church wall (don’t ask why; I’m not sure myself why we chose
that hill. Maybe we wanted to avoid
sliding into the street or something, I don’t know)it really wasn’t all that bad. We were using sweatshirts at first so that we
could slide down slow enough that we wouldn’t kill ourselves at the bottom and
we could avoid the weird looks as we sat through the service with soaked pants.
Suddenly, I jumped up and said, “hey
guys, I have one of those body shields in my car! Those are made of nylon, so it should go
really fast on the ice!”I think I was thinking about those college
stories of the people who would use their seat cushions to sled…
So I did it, and
it went so fast that I slammed into the wall and was howling for maybe ten
minutes (while Bridget and Amy stood next to me and tried to help me) until I
discovered that I wasn’t paralyzed and walked back into the building. It was really hard sitting through service,
but the day was saved due to everyone letting me lie around and play video
games the rest of Sunday. It still hurt
(even now somewhat) but it was worth it. I won't do it again though, no matter how many times certain persons tell me that they missed it, I need to reenact it for them.
